Personal & Social (Psychosocial) Development: Erikson
 
Theory:

Children move through a series of stages as they develop. During each stage they encounter crises that need to be resolved. If not resolved, the children encounter difficulties later on. (See following page).
 
Application:

Erikson’s work emphasizes the importance of children’s environments and the varying roles of the teacher, parent, and peers. Teachers can have significant impact on how students feel about themselves.
